UArctic Thematic Network on Northern Nursing Education is organizing an international conference titled ‘Blended Learning Strategies for the Circumpolar North: Leveraging Technology to Make Higher Education More Accessible’. 

On 8 March 2019, the Northern Institute for Environmental and Minority Law (NIEM) at the Arctic Centre, University of Lapland, which leads the UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Law, hosted a guest lecture by Professor JoAnne Sweeny.

In an effort to share information and experiences with other university networks that have similar issues and challenges as UArctic, Chief Communications Officer Scott Forrest met with several such organizations in Paris and Brussels February 26-28.

Women of the Arctic launched an interview series showcasing personal and professional stories of women who live and work in, as well as engage with the Arctic. 

On February 26, HIT Polar Academy and the UArctic HIT Training Centre were unveiled. The UArctic HIT Training Centre is the first UArctic Regional Centre, which supports the engagement of UArctic's members in China with the network's activities.

A new book published by the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland opens the Finnish perspective to the developments in the Arctic from the 1980s to the present day.

The theme of the Rovaniemi Arctic Spirit Conference on 12–13 November 2019 is climate change and the future generations. The conference will be arranged in cooperation with ICCAY – International Climate Challenge for the Arctic Youth.

On 13-14 March 2019, the Arctic Council will gather in Ruka, Finland for the fourth Senior Arctic Officials’ meeting during the Chairmanship of Finland (2017-2019).

University of Turku cordially invites their colleagues for the International Staff Training Week, 3-7 June 2019, organised by International Office and the Graduate School (UTUGS) of the University of Turku. Apply by March 31, 2019. 

Project partners from UArctic member institutions in Finland and Russia together with their colleagues from Aalto University and St. Petersburg State University of Economics, developed a three-year joint work plan during the "NDI Think Tank" kick-off meeting, which took place at Aalto University in Helsinki on February 27.

The One Arctic - One Health Conference was arranged on February 7-9, 2019, in Oulu, Finland, gathering together researchers from the whole Circumpolar area. The conference was very successful joining about 100 participants from 11 different countries.
