The Læra Institute for Circumpolar Education took an active part in Arctic Congress Bodø 2024, a blockbuster event combining IASSA's 11th International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences, UArctic Congress 2024 and High North Dialogue 2024.

The UArctic Rectors' Meeting 2024 held during the Arctic Congress 2024 on 1st June in Bodø, Norway, brought together UArctic member institution leadership, high-level representatives from Arctic states as well as indigenous people’s organizations to discuss collaboration among academic institutions.

The session “Intersectional Gender Equality within Academia – Exploring Sustainable Futures in the Arctic” gathered seven presentations from the circumpolar north – two from Canada and five from Arctic Five Universities, and had an audience of about 20 people.

Researchers involved in UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Marine Biodiversity, and the Nansen Legacy project have identified the first-ever loriciferan in Norwegian waters. This find was made in the Barents Sea at coordinates 81.53N and 30.96E, at a depth of 806 meters.
