Researchers involved in UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Marine Biodiversity, and the Nansen Legacy project have identified the first-ever loriciferan in Norwegian waters. This find was made in the Barents Sea at coordinates 81.53N and 30.96E, at a depth of 806 meters.

Since the establishment of UArctic Chairs, they have aimed to meet during the Arctic Congress, which was now held in Bodø, Norway. The Arctic Congress was unique this year as it was combined with the International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS) XI, UArctic Congress 2024, and High North Dialogue 2024.

The UArctic Chair in Arctic Legal Research and Education, and lead of the Thematic Network on Arctic Law, Prof. Kamrul Hossain from the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland, has been elected to the Council as a member for the next three years, from 2024-2027.
