Insuk Kim, an associate fellow of the UArctic Chair in Legal Research and Education, spoke in a session on political participation in the Arctic. Her presentation demonstrated how internationals face challenges accessing information in Greenland due to language barriers. She highlighted that there has been notable progress in recognizing foreigners in Greenlandic society, suggesting an example of the Sermersooq municipality, which includes Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, where there was an English-language meeting for foreigners to hear their voices regarding future city planning. According to her, such an approach is an essential step for inclusive city planning; given that Nuuk grows larger each year, the number of foreigners also increases. The panel session has been popularised via the news story published in the “Arctic Relations,” available from the following link: https://www.arctic-relations.info/politicalparticipationinthearctic
