Thematic Network on Arctic Health and Well-being announces One Arctic – One Health Conference 2019 to happen in Oulu, 7-9 February 2019.

The Arctic5 along with the Thematic Network on Teacher Education for Social Justice and Diversity in Education work to enhance teacher education for equality and social justice in the arctic region. 

UArctic Thematic Network UArctic World Ensemble (UWE) holds a concert at the Harstad Kulturhus in Harstad, Norway. The concert will take place Thursday November 15 at 18:00 (UTC+1), in Lillesalen. The concert is free of charge.

We are pleased to announce the dates for the 22nd meeting of the Council of UArctic, to be held in Stockholm, Sweden, from September 18 to 20, 2019. We welcome  member representatives to the Council of the University of the Arctic to participate. 

Youth visitors from Northern regions of Russia and Japan gathered to listen, learn and present projects on what effect climate change has on the biodiversity of their region. Youth Eco-Forum is part of the Northern Forum.

The TN in Northern Tourism has organised the filed course in collaboration between University of Lapland (Multidimensional Tourism Institute) and Partnership for Sustainability: Arctic Tourism in Times of Change-project. The UArctic Thematic Network on Arctic Law is pleased to announce a call for papers in order to publish at the Current Developments in Arctic Law, Volume 6 (2018).

Janus Drejer from Aalborg University in Denmark has been working as an intern at the Thematic Networks and Research Liaison Office, Thule Institute at the University of Oulu, for two months. He has now joined the UArctic Secretariat at University Lapland, where he will stay for three months.

During the four days in Rovaniemi, the reindeer herding youth will learn about different tools and knowledge systems for understanding climate change and other environmental changes affecting the Arctic biodiversity and indigenous livelihoods.The congress takes place October 9-12 2018 in Rovaniemi, Finland.

The EU H2020 funded INTERACT (International Network for Terrestrial Research and Monitoring in the Arctic) Transnational Access Call is open for projects taking place between March 2019 and April 2020.  

Jean-Pierre Desforges and Larissa Beumer from Aarhus University visited the University of Alaska Fairbanks’ Large Animal Research Station (LARS) to collect activity and behavioural data from direct observations of the captive muskoxen held at LARS.
