The International Arctic Social Sciences Association (IASSA) announces the 9th International Congress of Arctic Social Sciences (ICASS IX) to be held at the campus of Umeå University, in Umeå, Sweden, from 8-12 June 2017.
The Interdisciplinary Summer School is organized by Yugra State University (Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia), University of Helsinki (Finland) and Lund University (Sweden) with support of the Nordic-Russian Cooperation Programme in Education and Research (SIU and NordForsk).
PhD student Anna Rönkä, from the University of Oulu, Finland, was elected to the Arctic Frontiers Emerging Leaders 2016 –programme, funded by the Research Council of Norway. Anna Rönkä is a PhD student in the UArctic PhD Program in Arctic Health, organised by the Thematic Network on Health and Well-being in the Arctic.

The UArctic Thematic Network on Permafrost/Natural Hazards offers an International Permafrost/Natural Hazards Summer Field School (5 ECTS) in Yakutia, 1-20 August 2016. The course welcomes senior bachelor and graduate students. Application deadline is 15 April 2016.
