The US State Department has announced the Fulbright Arctic Initiative, an interdisciplinary collaborative research initiative focused on the Arctic region.

The European University at St. Petersburg and the University of Vienna call for a "Nomadic" Ph.D. Summer School "Field Experiences in Northwest Russia" (FENOR)

On February 20, 2015, the Arctic Centre / University of Lapland, hosts the Internatioal Conference on “New challenges facing the Arctic ocean and other fragile seas.”

Recently UiT- The Arctic University of Norway together with Russian partner institutions organized the Bachelor of Northern studies (BNS) annual local coordinators meeting and a graduation ceremony for 13 students who have completed the program. This happened in Murmansk, Russia.

UArctic recently approved the proposed Thematic Network on Commercialization of Science & Technology for the North. The International Centre for Northern Governance and Development (ICNGD) is now welcoming members of the UArctic and interested partners to join the network.

September 29.-30. 2014 The Arctic Studies Program from University of Lapland did an excursion to the Pyhätunturi area.

Annual Arctic Futures Symposium takes place on Tuesday 14 October and Wednesday 15 October 2014, at the Residence Palace conference centre, located in the European District of Brussels, Belgium. The conference starts at 9:00 am both days.This year’s symposium theme is: “The Arctic, its peoples, and its economies”.

The new Interreg Nord program "North meets the Arctic" will be opened with a conference in Tromsø, Norway November 18-19, 2014.

A workshop combining science and photography was arranged at Oulanka research station of University of Oulu in Kuusamo, Finland  between 1. – 5. of September  2014 – in the middle of the Oulanka National Park in Kuusamo North East Finland.
