The eDiscussion on the Arctic will touch on several themes, including: Canada’s Northern foreign policy, international initiatives, as well as Canadian challenges and opportunities. These themes and others will serve as points of departure for this eDiscussion, which will focus on specific areas such as: sustainable economic development, the Arctic Council, developments in international relations, and future political trends.

The eDiscussion will be open from Monday, January 26th to Friday, March 27th, 2009. In addition to having the possibility of participating to the eDiscussion itself, university classes are invited to submit a policy position paper, which will represent the class and will be published on DFAIT's website. In order to facilitate the integration of this eDiscussion in your curriculum and to help boost your students' interest in participating, several online resources, such as video interviews with experts and key documentation, will be available.

If you are interested in participating with your students and would like to learn more about how the eDiscussions can be used as educational tool, please visit our webpage for more information.

Should you have any questions or wish to discuss or confirm your participation, please contact us to arrange a convenient time for us to call you. We would be pleased to discuss with you the details of your eventual participation.
